# Calendar Skill
Use `gcalcli` to interact with Google Calendar. Requires `GOOGLE_CALENDAR_API_KEY` (or `CALDAV_URL`/`CALDAV_USER`/`CALDAV_PASS` for CalDAV).
## Listing Events
List upcoming events in a date range:
```bash
gcalcli agenda "2026-02-03" "2026-02-10"
```
## Creating Events
Add a new calendar event:
```bash
gcalcli add --title "Team sync" --when "2026-02-04 10:00" --duration 30
```
## Deleting Events
Delete an event by search term:
```bash
gcalcli delete "Team sync"
```
## Install
```bash
pip install gcalcli
```

Calendar operations through an existing command line client
Creates, lists and deletes calendar events by delegating to an established calendar client rather than reimplementing remote calls, so behaviour matches whatever that tool already does. Listing takes a date range and returns an agenda, adding takes a title, start time and duration, and deletion works by matching a search term instead of a stable identifier, which is the sharpest limitation here: a loosely named event can match more than intended. Setup needs the client binary installed through a package manager and one of two credential routes configured, either an interface key or a remote address with user credentials.
Use case: Adding a meeting to a shared calendar

Reading and writing a calendar from the shell
This skill wraps a python command line calendar client so that events can be listed and removed without opening a browser. Reads are cheap and clear, and the same client handles writes once the account is connected and the credentials are in place. ## What it does - Lists events across a date range as an agenda. - Adds an event with a title, a start time and a duration. - Deletes an event by matching a search term. - Installs as a python package alongside the calendar provider credentials. - Works against either a hosted calendar provider or a self hosted server over a standard protocol. ## When it is the wrong choice It needs the calendar client binary installed before anything works, and the credentials are either a provider key or a set of server address and login values for a self hosted setup. Without one of those two paths the skill cannot read anything, so it is not a local calendar store. Deletion is by loose text match rather than a stable identifier, which means a vague term can match more than one event. There is no offline mode either: every listing is a round trip to the provider, so a blocked network path leaves you with nothing at all. ```bash gcalcli agenda "2026-02-03" "2026-02-10" gcalcli delete "Team sync" pip install gcalcli ``` ## Working notes - Either a provider key or the self hosted address and login trio must be present. - The agenda range covers the dates given on the command line. - The client is installed as a package rather than being bundled with the skill.
