Skill Overview
--- name: clawd-presence description: Physical presence display for AI agents. Shows a customizable monogram (A-Z), status state, and current activity on a dedicated terminal/screen. Provides faster feedback than chat - glance at the display to see what the agent is doing. Use when setting up always-on agent visibility. --- # Clawd Presence Terminal-based presence display for AI agents. ## Why Chat has latency. A presence display inverts this - the agent broadcasts state continuously, you glance at it like a clock. ## Setup ```bash # Configure (auto-detect from clawdbot or manual) python3 scripts/configure.py --auto # or python3 scripts/configure.py --letter A --name "AGENT" # Run display in dedicated terminal python3 scripts/display.py ``` ## Update Status Call from your agent whenever starting a task: ```bash python3 scripts/status.py work "Building feature" python3 scripts/status.py think "Analyzing data" python3 scripts/status.py idle "Ready" python3 scripts/status.py alert "Need attention" python3 scripts/status.py sleep ``` ## States | State | Color | Use | |-------|-------|-----| | `idle` | Cyan | Waiting | | `work` | Green | Executing | | `think` | Yellow | Processing | | `alert` | Red | Needs human | | `sleep` | Blue | Low power | ## Auto-Idle Returns to idle after 5 minutes of no updates. Prevents stale states. ```bash python3 scripts/configure.py --timeout 300 # seconds, 0 to disable ``` ## Files - `scripts/display.py` - Main display - `scripts/status.py` - Update status - `scripts/configure.py` - Settings - `assets/monograms/` - Letter designs A-Z

terminal presence display for a running agent
clawd-presence renders agent state on a dedicated terminal, showing a monogram, a colour coded status such as idle, work, think, alert, or sleep, and a short line of current activity. The idea is sound: state broadcasts continuously and can be read at a glance, which beats waiting on chat latency. The trade-offs are structural. It occupies a whole terminal or screen permanently, it only helps someone sitting at that machine, and the display falls back to idle after five minutes without an update, so a long silent task can read as nothing happening.
Use case: seeing at a glance what the agent is doing

Putting agent state on a spare screen
This skill turns a spare terminal into a status display. Instead of waiting for a chat reply, the agent pushes a short state and a line of text to the screen, so anyone nearby can see whether it is working, thinking, idle or asking for help. ## What it does - Renders a monogram and a status line on a terminal. - Accepts a state such as idle, working, thinking, alert or asleep. - Takes a short caption alongside the state. - Falls back to idle after a period without updates. - Lets the timeout be changed or switched off. ## When it is the wrong choice It needs a screen that is always on and dedicated to it, which is a real cost for a headless host. The state is also only as honest as the caller, because nothing observes the agent, so a task that forgets to post a state leaves a stale one on display. The automatic idle timeout exists precisely for that, and its default quietly returns the display to idle after a few minutes, which means a long silent job looks idle rather than busy unless the timeout is adjusted. Nothing consumes the state either, so a scheduler or a monitor that wants to react to agent state has to read it from somewhere else. The timeout is a one time write as well, so changing it means running the configure step again rather than editing anything an agent can reach. ```bash python3 scripts/status.py work "Building feature" python3 scripts/status.py alert "Need attention" ``` ## Working notes - The timeout returns the display to idle once updates stop. - Monograms are stored as assets, one per letter. - Configuration can be automatic or explicit.
