Expiring Unanswered Approval Requests
An agent that waits forever on a human reply stalls silently. Give every approval request a deadline and a stated default: when the window passes, take the pre-declared safe path, re-ask once in a calmer channel, and record which action the deadline chose. A missing reply is never consent, and the agent must not widen scope just because nobody answered.
Commands
$ openclaw agent edit "DevOps Monitor" --append-message "Every approval request must state a deadline and a default: if the request expires, take the safe no-op path and say so in the thread."
$ openclaw alert-rule add --name "Unanswered Approvals" --rule "If an approval request is still open after 30 minutes, re-ask once in the alert channel, then mark it expired and record the default action that was taken."
$ openclaw command add --name "expire-approval" --trigger "/expire-approval" --source "AWS Production" --message "Close an open approval request, record that it expired unanswered, and proceed with the safe default instead of re-sending the request."
$ openclaw alert-route add --name "Approvals" --severity warning --channel slack --to "#ops-alerts"

Every approval request needs a deadline and a default
Expiring Unanswered Approval Requests# Every approval request needs a deadline and a default An agent that asks for confirmation and then waits is one unanswered message away from a silent stall. Nothing errors, nothing proceeds, and the workflow simply stops. The fix is to make every approval request carry two fields from the moment
