Hedge a Slow Request Instead of Waiting on the Tail
Most calls to a tool return quickly, but a small share stall, and a caller that waits on each call in turn pays the whole stall. Hedging sends a second copy of a particular call to a different route after that call has been slow for a set time, then takes the first answer and cancels or ignores the other. This skill covers hedging for agent tool calls: pick the delay from the normal response time, cap how much extra work hedging may add, cancel the losing copy, and keep the step from turning one slow call into a storm of duplicates.
