Move a Session Between Models Without Losing Its Place
A session that moves from one model to another carries more than the last message. The two models may read the same transcript differently, accept different token limits, emit tool calls in different shapes, and expect different system framing. A handoff treats the move as a translation rather than a swap: it picks a turn boundary, rewrites the carried state into the new model's shape, keeps the transcript so the session keeps its history, and confirms the new model can continue the turn before the old one is released. Done this way the session does not notice the change; done carelessly it answers as if it had lost the last few turns.
