Reporting Partial Success and Incomplete Batches
A batch that processed most of its items is neither a success nor a failure, and a binary flag hides the difference. This skill covers partial-success reporting for agents: report the counts of succeeded, failed and skipped items, name the failures, retry only the items that failed, and never let a partially applied batch read as complete on a dashboard.
Commands
$ openclaw pipeline create --name "batch-report" --trigger "Scheduled"
$ openclaw command add --name "batch-status" --trigger "/batch-status" --source "AWS Production" --message "The operator wants the status of a batch. Report the counts of succeeded, failed and skipped items, name the failures, and never report a partial batch as complete."
$ openclaw auto-fix add --name "Retry Failed Batch Items Only" --condition "batch_partial = true" --action "Re-run only the items that failed, leave the succeeded items untouched, and report the final counts" --approval "auto" --notify "#ops-info" --max-runs "5 per day" --cooldown "15m"
$ openclaw alert-rule add --name "Partial Batch Summary" --group-by "batch_id,status" --window "30m" --action "When a batch finishes with both successes and failures, send one summary carrying the counts rather than one alert per failed item."

A batch is rarely all or nothing
Reporting Partial Success and Incomplete Batches# A batch is rarely all or nothing The most misleading word in an agent report is done. A batch that processed ninety of a hundred items is not done, it is partly done, and a caller that reads done as everything is done will skip the remaining ten. Report three numbers, not one. Succeeded, failed
