Structured Logs with Correlation IDs

Free-text logs make an agent's failure impossible to reconstruct once the run is over. This skill covers structured logging for agents: emit key value fields instead of prose, mint one correlation id per logical run and propagate it through every call, keep secrets and raw payloads out of the log store, and group repeats by that id so one fault produces one alert.

Commands

$ openclaw runbook add --name "Trace a Failed Run" --trigger "/runbook trace-run" --tags "observability, debugging" --steps 'Step 1: Find the correlation id from the failing request. Step 2: Pull every log line carrying that id in time order. Step 3: Follow the id across services. Step 4: Record which service was the last to log.'
$ openclaw command add --name "trace" --trigger "/trace" --source "AWS Production" --message "The operator wants to trace one run. Ask for the correlation id, then show every log line with that id in time order, grouped by service."
$ openclaw alert-rule add --name "Correlate Repeated Failures" --group-by "correlation_id,metric" --window "15m" --action "When the same correlation id appears in more than three failures within fifteen minutes, send one alert carrying the id and the count instead of one alert per failure."
$ openclaw alert-route add --name "Observability" --severity info --channel slack --to "#ops-info"

Structured Logs with Correlation IDs

# Mint one id per run and carry it everywhere A log line without an identifier is a sentence with no speaker. When a run fails, the useful question is which other lines belong to the same run, and free text cannot answer it. The fix is small. Create a correlation id at the entry point of each logi
